Legend has it that the first cheeseburger was created in 1926. Lionel Sternberger, a then 16-year-old working at his father’s sandwich shop, decided to drop a piece of American cheese onto a hot and fresh hamburger during his shift. The results were the now extremely popular and notably delicious cheeseburger. To celebrate the invention of the cheeseburger, National Cheeseburger Day is on September 18.
This September 18, celebrate National Cheeseburger Day by creating cheeseburgers of your own at home. Or, for an even easier option, visit your favorite local burger joint to enjoy a carefully crafted and absolutely tasty cheeseburger.
